“Clock is ticking”- Postecoglou claim made as Tottenham face pivotal January schedule

Ex-scout Bryan King thinks the clock is ticking for Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham

Ange Postecoglou is under pressure at Tottenham after a run of poor results

Tottenham Hotspur failed to end their two-game losing run in the Premier League on Sunday as they drew 2-2 with Wolverhampton Wanderers at home.

The Lilywhites were hoping to bounce back after back-to-back defeats to Liverpool and Nottingham Forest. And looked to be on their way to a first Premier League win in three after coming back from 1-0 down to lead Wolves 2-1 on Sunday, but an equaliser three minutes from time continued their woes.

Spurs are in dire form and sit 11th in the Premier League table, and thus pressure is building on Ange Postecoglou. The Greek-Aussie tactician retains the support of the board and will subsequently be in the dugout at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium against Newcastle United.

The Australian tactician has clarified that his squad needs proper rest and relaxation ahead of their high-octane battle against Newcastle on January 4.
Big Ange has not enjoyed his second season in North London

However, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King wants chairman Daniel Levy to make his stance on Ange Postecoglou clear. He feels the “clock is ticking” for the 59-year-old at White Hart Lane.

“It seems as though the clock is ticking for Postecoglou,” Bryan King exclusively told Tottenham News.

“Spurs do not look like a good team. You saw with Wolves the impact of a new manager coming in, what a start he has made at the club. I’m beginning to wonder where the line is going to be drawn with Postecoglou.

“Results have not been positive over the past couple of months. There is always pressure on managers, of course. What we need is a justified statement from the chairman, otherwise this uncertainty will continue. If Levy is happy with Postecoglou, and he isn’t going to be sacked, come out and make that statement.”

Postecoglou came out with the reasons that paved the way for the addition of Dragusin to the squad despite not being completely fit.
Tottenham players have looked fatigued in recent weeks

After the draw with Wolves, Postecoglou said that while he and the club chiefs will continue to work on identifying talents to reinforce the squad once the transfer window opens, Tottenham players are in desperate need of physical and mental rest. Due to persistent injury problems, especially with the defensive unit hit hardest, the players available at Big Ange’s disposal have continuously played every three/four days in the last couple of months.

The ex-Celtic boss has had several fitness and suspension problems this season, and with a patched-up backline, one can’t expect him to grind out results every week. The defensive frailties in defence have been evident in almost every game, and Daniel Levy needs to back Big Ange with a couple of quality signings.

Clarity of Big Ange’s future is extremely important as Spurs are expected to be in the long haul with him. Thus, Levy should look to clear the ongoing speculation surrounding the Australian by making an official statement backing him.
