Tottenham make €45 million offer for Facundo Buonanotte

Tottenham have made the first move to sign on-loan Leicester City playmaker Facundo Buonanotte

Tottenham Hotspur are expected to dip their toes in the upcoming January transfer window after being plagued by injuries and hugely inconsistent displays.

The North Londoners have failed to gain any sort of momentum or rhythm thanks largely due to their persistent injury problems. The resources at Ange Postecoglou’s disposal have been stretched, and with an XI that is constantly changing, one can’t expect him to grind out results every week.

Thus, Daniel Levy has to back the Greek-Aussie tactician with a couple of quality signings next month if Spurs are to get their season back on track. And it looks like he has already made his first move to sign a player.

According to a report from Spanish outlet Fichajes, Tottenham have tabled a €45 million offer for Facundo Buonanotte, who is currently on loan at Leicester City from Brighton and Hove Albion.

Facundo Buonanotte was allowed to leave on loan to newly promoted Leicester City by new Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler in the summer. The Argentinean has been one of the rare shining lights in an otherwise woeful campaign for the Foxes, supplying four goals and two assists in 16 Premier League appearances. He has been one of their chief attacking threats, operating in multiple positions across midfield and attack.

The Perez-born talent’s displays have unsurprisingly gone unnoticed, with Spurs vying for his signature. The North Londoners’ intent to sign Buonanotte is reflected by their sizeable offer, although the aforementioned report claims that Brighton won’t be easily willing to part ways with him. The €45 million offer submitted by Tottenham is not deemed enough by the Seagulls as things stand.

Tottenham Hotspur are unlikely to secure Facundo Buonanotte for €45 million.

The Lilywhites appear intent on enhancing their pool of young talent by adding Buonanotte to the mix. With his flair, creativity, dynamism and versatility, the South American can become a vital component in Postecoglou’s midfield and attacking ranks at White Hart Lane. He seems to fit the bill perfectly and the fact that the playmaker is only 20 years old means he has a lot of room to develop further.

Brighton will have a final say on the youngster’s future. It is extremely unlikely that Buonanotte will stay at Leicester beyond his current loan spell as the Midlands club are fighting to maintain their top-flight status.

Spurs have shown concrete interest by making an offer for the Argentinean, but with the Seagulls seemingly unconvinced with it, it remains to be seen whether Daniel Levy makes an improved proposal.
