Tottenham’s year has ended on a sour note, with the team squandering a 1-0 lead to Wolves, to draw 2-2… leaving them in 11th place. As they head into the transfer window, Spurs are looking to strengthen their injury-hit squad. Despite strong interest from one of Europe’s top clubs, Tottenham have made it clear they have no intention of selling one of their key players in January.

Ange Postecoglou faces immense pressure as Tottenham’s poor form sees them drop to the bottom half of the Premier League table. The Australian manager has been hit hard by an injury crisis, with key players like goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario and defenders Cristian Romero, Ben Davies, and Micky van de Ven sidelined. These absences have significantly weakened Spurs’ defensive stability, leaving Postecoglou in a risky position as he navigates increasing scrutiny over his performance.
Journo claims Tottenham has no intention to sell star player
Micky van de Ven, who joined Tottenham from Wolfsburg in 2023 for around €50 million, has quickly established himself as a regular, featuring in 40 matches for the Lilywhites. The 23-year-old Dutch defender’s performances have reportedly attracted Real Madrid’s interest.
Known for his exceptional pace, he beats even the fastest strikers and contributes offensively by advancing from defence, leading to two assists this season. Despite his influence, injuries have limited his availability. He made only 27 appearances last season and has played nine Premier League games in 2024-25 due to a persistent hamstring issue, missing half of Spurs’ fixtures so far.
However, Reputed journalist Ben Jacobs reports that Tottenham have no intention of selling van de Ven, as his contract runs until 2029, with no release clause. With van de Ven happy at the club, Spurs remain under no financial pressure to entertain offers for the speedy centre-back.
