Tottenham board are continuing to back Ange Postecoglou despite dire form
Ange Postecoglou has endured a difficult second season in charge of Tottenham Hotspur. The Lilywhites are 11th in the Premier League following their 2-2 draw at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers, which extended their winless run in the competition to three games.
Spurs have won just once in their last six games in the Premier League and will face an in-form Newcastle United next in the New Year. They have been so unfortunate with injuries this term and this has played a huge part in such underwhelming performances and results. This has consequently led to speculation surrounding Ange Postecoglou’s future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Pressure has been building on the Australian tactician for some time now. However, transfer news guru Fabrizio Romano has told GIVEMESPORT that the Tottenham board keep ‘supporting and trusting’ Postecoglou regardless of a poor first half of the 2024/25 season. They have no plans to sack him at this moment, and are instead looking at ways to bolster the 59-year-old’s depleted squad in January.
-> “Clock is ticking”- Postecoglou claim made as Tottenham face pivotal January schedule
“It’s obviously a difficult situation, but what I’m hearing is that Tottenham keep supporting and trusting Ange Postecoglou,” Fabrizio Romano exclusively told GIVEMESPORT.
“The January window is going to be important. Obviously, they need to do something.”
The North Londoners are in a dire run of form, losing back-to-back games to Liverpool and Nottingham Forest before being held to a 2-2 draw by relegation-threatened Wolves on Sunday. Thus, Big Ange has come under fire, and while he retains the backing of the board, the 59-year-old needs to reverse his team’s fortunes in the coming weeks.
January’s double-legged Carabao Cup semi-final with Liverpool could be pivotal in determining his fate, with failure to reach the grand finale potentially prompting the hierarchy to wield the axe. Tottenham have not won a trophy since the 2008 League Cup success, and so Daniel Levy and the club’s board may be placing great importance on the outcome of the semi-finals against Arne Slot’s Liverpool.

Tottenham also remain in the Europa League and are yet to commence their FA Cup adventure. Silverware in either of those competitions could buy the Greek-Aussie tactician time, although progress and form in the Premier League remain a decisive factor.
