Finance expert predicts ‘tough’ winter window for Ange Postecoglou & Tottenham

Levy & Lange fly to secure £55m Tottenham deal for Randal Kolo Muani.

Tottenham Hotspur have been looking to make some reasonable reinforcements in the recently commenced winter transfer window as the North Londoners look to back Ange Postecoglou with qualitative players to get back on track for their season objectives, which at the moment appears a far-sighted dream given where they are in the Premier League table.

The Lilywhites are eleventh (11th) in the English top tier table with nine (9) losses, three (3) draws, and just seven (7) wins as the pressure on the Australian head coach continues to elevate, given how far Spurs are from Champions League qualification, and finance expert Stefan Borson insists that the current position at N17 would have a domino effect for Tottenham in the ongoing January transfer market.

Stefan Borson speaks on possible reinforcements for Postecoglou at Tottenham this winter.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Stefan Borson is of the opinion that Ange Postecoglou’s side will struggle to sign new players this transfer window because of the lack of Champions League football at White Hart Lane this season. Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou admitted something on similar lines, suggesting that the new Champions League model will be a problem for Spurs and their probabilities of bringing in new reinforcements in the winter (h/t The Times).

Speaking in an interview on Football Insider, Borson said:

“It’s going to be hard for Spurs because they have got no Champions League. It’s going to be a very tough window. The Premier League teams have got money, and the French teams particularly would probably like that money.

“The German teams are probably not in as much of a rush before the summer, likewise for Italy. Spain is pretty much a mix. The clubs that you would probably want to sign from are not in dire need to sell, so I think it’s going to be a really hard market for the likes of Spurs.

“The people that are probably best-placed to sign players are the teams that are prepared to take loans from teams like Chelsea.”

Could Ange Postecoglou still get some reinforcements?

This is the time for Daniel Levy to show his hold in the European market, and while the club is set for a tough time to pursue deals, a few smart loans or maybe some well-timed moves for players whose clubs are willing to sell at lower prices can still help Tottenham progress a long way.
