Tottenham have shown an interest in signing Lecce left-back Patrick Dorgu
Tottenham Hotspur’s injury crisis in the first half of 2024/25 has left them stranded in 11th place in the Premier League standings. Though they remain on course to qualify for the Europa League knockout rounds and have made the last four of the Carabao Cup, Ange Postecoglou’s job as the head coach has come under massive pressure over recent weeks.
Spurs are keen on adding a couple of new faces to the Australian’s roster this month. And after their injury crisis at the back was exacerbated thanks to Destiny Udogie suffering a hamstring injury in the 2-2 draw with Wolves last Sunday.
The Italian left-back is expected to be out of action for up to six to ten weeks, and with Ben Davies also suffering a setback in his recovery from a hamstring pull, Ange Postecoglou currently has out-of-favour Sergio Reguilon as the only fit left-back at his disposal. As a result, Tottenham have upped the ante to sign Lecce star Patrick Dorgu.

Patrick Dorgu has been brilliant in his second senior season with Lecce, scoring three goals in 17 Serie A starts so far this season. The Denmark international has impressed with his lung-busting runs, energy, work rate and versatility, establishing himself as one of the coveted young players in Serie A.
However, according to an exclusive report from GIVEMESPORT, Tottenham are in danger of being priced out of a move for Dorgu. This is because Lecce have increased their asking price for their prodigious talent after he has attracted extensive interest during the early stages of the winter transfer window.
The Serie A side are now asking over the £30million mark for the 20-year-old. They are in a healthy negotiating position as Dorgu’s contract doesn’t expire until June 2029 (Transfermarkt). He has remained a key part of the club’s plans since Marco Giampaolo’s appointment as head coach in November.

The aforementioned report adds Spurs’ efforts to sign the flying Dane is expected to fail following his increased valuation as Big Ange is set to have a limited budget of £25million to spend in the mid-season trading period, despite the club playing catch-up in the race to secure a spot in Europe. This has complicated matters for Tottenham as they attempt to lure Dorgu away from Lecce to White Hart Lane.
