Tottenham youngster Will Lankshear attracting interest from several unnamed clubs
Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou and technical director Johan Lange are working closely together to identify potential recruits in this January transfer window.
Spurs made Dominic Solanke the most expensive acquisition in the club’s history when he completed a £65million switch from Bournemouth in August, but Ange Postecoglou’s side are playing catch-up in their pursuit of European qualification after ending 2024 in a dismal run of form.
The Lilywhites have had a poor first part of the season and currently lie 11th in the Premier League. Postecoglou’s squad has been hit severely with injury problems, leading to hugely inconsistent performances and results.

If the North Londoners are to make up the ground and finish in the European spots, they must bolster the squad. A striker to provide cover for Solanke appears to be on the club’s agenda, with Brighton and Hove Albion star Evan Ferguson linked with a move to Tottenham. However, should the club manage to land a new striker, a certain player will be allowed to leave on loan.
According to Football London journalist Alasdair Gold, Will Lankshear could leave Tottenham late in the January transfer window.
Will Lankshear, who scored a bucketload of goals for Spurs’ academy teams last season, made his Premier League debut this campaign. The young Englishman has made four appearances across all competitions, including scoring a goal against Galatasaray in the Europa League. However, he was sent off in that fixture as Spurs lost 3-2 at the Rams Park.
Gold adds that the teenager is attracting interest from several unnamed clubs for either a permanent deal or a loan move away from White Hart Lane. However, any potential deal for Lankshear will be tough for Spurs to sanction without the acquisition of a striker due to the injury issues in the squad.

Richarlison has barely played for Postecoglou’s white army this season. The Brazilian continues to remain sidelined with thigh and hamstring issues, although he is expected to return later this month. In his absence, Solanke has had to shoulder the burden of leading Tottenham’s attack in every game. If Solanke doesn’t get enough rest and recovery period in between games, it could lead to potential burnout.

Thus, signing a striker is an absolute necessity as it would not only provide support for Solanke but also allow Lankshear to spend the second half of the campaign out on loan and clock valuable minutes.
