Tottenham ready to purchase Evan Ferguson from Brighton
Tottenham Hotspur have failed in creating an offensive impact in their last few matches and there has been little to write home about them for much of the season in the final third. Brennan Johnson and Dominic Solanke have held the fort for the team more often than not, with the rest of their options in the attacking department severely underperforming of late.
Son Heung-min seems to be a shadow of his former self, whereas the less said about Timo Werner, the better. The former Chelsea forward was openly criticised by Ange Postecoglou as well for his lack of efficiency and contribution in front of goal, while he also is far from a long-term option given that the club is extremely unlikely to turn his loan into a permanent deal later this year.
Richarlison and Wilson Odobert have struggled with injuries for the majority of the campaign as well, with the Brazilian also being linked with departing the club. Ange Postecoglou requires a fresh injection of attacking names, possibly in January itself, and Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to oblige by landing Evan Ferguson from Brighton, according to GiveMeSport.
Not very long ago, Ferguson was one of the Premier League’s most sought-after offensive names but has struggled to play regular minutes in the ongoing campaign having fallen behind Danny Welbeck and Joao Pedro in Brighton’s pecking order. A loan elsewhere has been mooted to help him reignite his career and Tottenham are considered as an interested party.

If Ferguson were to join Tottenham, he would need to play as the second fiddle behind Dominic Solanke although that’s not to say his minutes will be as limited as they have been at Brighton. Solanke has already played a lot of football this season and Ferguson would be a handy option for Postecoglou off the bench, as well as in a starting capacity in the cup competitions in the business end of the season.
