Club insider makes Barcelona superstar to Tottenham claim

Date:

Tottenham Hotspur have been subject to links with a move for Barcelona midfielder Dani Olmo as Daniel Levy looks to take advantage of the Spaniard’s situation at Camp Nou.

Agent backs Olmo at Bracelona

The Lilywhites need to bring in a creative outlet at White Hart Lane, and bringing in the former RB Leipzig star could be a statement signing for Ange Postecoglou as the Catalonia giants struggle to register the 26-year-old, per Mundo Deportivo.

Despite the struggles to register the player, Olmo’s agent insisted that his client isn’t intending to leave his current employers anytime soon. Speaking in an interview with transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Olmo’s agent said:

“I can confirm our position has not changed. We are not negotiating with any club. Dani is a Barca player, and he wants to be a Barca player; he made big efforts in his life to be at Barcelona. It was his desire for a long time”.

Can Tottenham sign Olmo?

And John Wenham, owner of the Spurs podcast Lilywhites Rose, suggests that the Spain international wouldn’t join Tottenham even if he were to leave Barcelona. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Wenham said:

“That signing would be a statement of intent from Tottenham. However, I can categorically tell you now that there’s zero chance of him coming to Tottenham, because if he were available, Manchester City would be after him, and Manchester United would be after him.

“Unfortunately, we’re below those clubs in the pecking order in terms of making signings. Therefore, I can categorically say that won’t happen.”

The assessment from the podcast host is a depiction of a harsh reality about Spurs at the moment, and while any potential move for Olmo (given his talent) would make him a fantastic addition to the roster at N17, Ange Postecoglou’s side is not level with some of the Premier League’s elite at the moment, and it would be difficult for Levy to make a case for Tottenham if Olmo were to leave Barcelona.
