Gary Lineker and Micah Richards mock Tottenham head coach for his interview after Newcastle defeat

Ange Postecoglou came into the weekend under ample pressure given the bad run of form at White Hart Lane, and the Australian head coach suffered another blow to his possibility of staying at Tottenham Hotspur with Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United getting the better of the Lilywhites (FT: 1-2) as players turned pundits Gary Lineker and Micah Richards were quick to mock the former Celtic manager in the aftermath of the defeat.

The defeat against the Toons leaves Spurs in the bottom half of the Premier League table, where they stand twelfth (12th) with the number of losses (10) being equal to an aggregate of their wins (7) and draws (3), and this showcases how Tottenham has been out of touch all season.

The hosts found an early lead from Dominic Solanke’s header; however, Tottenham squandered that to suffer their fifth defeat in the last seven games against the visiting Barrack Road outfit.

Ange Postecoglou set to hand his Tottenham Hotspur stars a holiday following Wolves draw.
Pressure continues to build on Postecoglou

And you could sense the pressure on the head coach in his postgame interview with Match of the Day, where the Australian kept repeating that if things were “even and balanced,” it would come along the lines of if they had won.

Once the interview stopped, former Man City defender Richards was giggling in the Match of the Day studio when Lineker followed up with a question: “What do you think he means, Michael?”

Where Richards said (with a laugh): “I think he was trying to say things weren’t even and balanced.”

And Lineker (like many other Tottenham supporters) agreed, saying, “I think you might have a point.”

At the moment, London neighbours West Ham are only one point behind the Lilywhites, with Manchester United just two points out of touch. Going beyond, Crystal Palace are three points trailing to Ange’s side, with the Lilywhites sitting just nine points out of the relegation zone.
