Inter Milan midfielder David Frattesi has been linked with a move to Tottenham

The Lilywhites’ priority in this winter transfer window is reinforcing the defensive unit owing to the injury problems Ange Postecoglou has faced this season. injuries to Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Guglielmo Vicario, Destiny Udogie and Ben Davies have led to disjointed and underwhelming displays at the back which in turn have seen Spurs concede a lot of goals.
Apart from adding a centre-back to Ange Postecoglou’s roster, it seems like the North Londoners are also trying to beef up the midfield department. According to an exclusive report from TEAMtalk, Tottenham have enquired about Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi, who is also on the radar of Newcastle United.

The Italy international has emerged as a potential option to replace Bruno Guimaraes if the star midfielder leaves Newcastle United later this year. As Manchester City are favourites to sign Bruno Guimaraes, Newcastle have expressed an interest in bringing the Inter Milan man to St James’ Park.
Davide Frattesi has not been the first-choice midfielder for Simone Inzaghi this season, and as a result, has made only four starts in Serie A thus far. He has clocked just 585 minutes across 14 league appearances, leading to speculation over his future at the club. Regardless of his sporadic outings, the aforementioned report adds the Nerazzurri value the Roma-born talent at around €50m.
Tottenham have shown an interest in Frattesi perhaps to add more competition for creative midfielder James Maddison, whose form has been up and down this term. The Inter midfielder can operate in different positions across the centre of the park, and such versatility could enhance Ange Postecoglou’s squad to push for trophies and European qualification.

The ex-Sassuolo ace has a good amount of experience at the highest level as well, and at 25, he would fit in well under Big Ange at Spurs. However, Inter want to keep hold of Frattesi until the end of the season, at least. As Inzaghi’s side are gunning to retain the Scudetto, they don’t plan to weaken their squad by selling him midway through the season.

Therefore, Tottenham would face an uphill battle to persuade the defending Serie A champions to part ways with Frattesi. And given Newcastle’s interest in the player, Daniel Levy & Tottenham will face significant competition to secure his signature.
