Tottenham Hotspur concluded the signing of goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky at the weekend, who becomes the first player to arrive in North London in the ongoing winter transfer window.
Spurs have been looking to bring in a new goalkeeper this window given the injury problems in the goalkeeping department, with their first choice between the posts, Guglielmo Vicario, serving the sidelines with an ankle injury, and while 36-year-old Fraser Forster has been doing decently, there is a need for a long-term keeper who can take up the reins at N17. It showed when Ange Postecoglou had to start third-choice keeper Brandon Austin against Newcastle United last weekend. This is where Antonin Kinsky comes into the picture…
Kinsky ready to start vs Liverpool
The Lilywhites faithful will have their first opportunity to watch their new boy in action later today when Tottenham takes on Liverpool in the first leg of the EFL Cup semifinals, which could be termed as Spurs biggest game of the season so far, given their needs for silverware.
And in what comes as a boost to the Australian head coach, the 21-year-old has revealed his readiness to make his debut donning the Spurs badge for the scheduled fixture. Speaking to Infotbal, Antonin Kinsky said:
“I haven’t even unpacked my bag yet, but I’m thinking about every upcoming match. I’ll prepare myself so that I’m ready. And if the coach decides to call me, I’ll be ready. I feel great. I’m calm in my head. I want to continue where I left off calmly.”
The goalkeeper termed as ‘next Petr Cech‘ reveals that he had his first training session at Hotspur Way on Sunday morning, and with the game being a few days from the weekend, he should be ready to start against the Reds later today. He continued:
“I had my first one with the goalkeeper coach on Sunday morning. Then I should join the team. I will try to adapt as quickly as possible.”
