Veteran defender Ben Davies’ has been attracting interest in the ongoing January transfer window, and Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham Hotspur find themselves in a tricky situation given the problems at the back at White Hart Lane.
Leeds look at Tottenham defender
Championship side Leeds United hold interest in the Welsh international, which will push the North Londoners to very carefully contemplate the possible risk they can take with losing the 31-year-old at a time when their season is plagued by injury setbacks.
Starting defensive duo Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, and Davies himself have been serving the sidelines, and head coach Ange Postecoglou has been utilising versatile but inexperienced players in central defence roles with makeshift solutions like Archie Gray.
Football journalist Ben Jacobs, speaking on Last Word on Spurs, said:
“With Ben Davies, I think that he will also be gone. And the same for Fraser Forster as well.
“With Davies, the natural thing is to run down the contract. Leeds United remain interested. So that could be one to watch in the coming weeks. But I think that with Kinsky arriving, Forster falls down the pecking order.”
Losing Davies is a risky cause

Given the reliability and leadership that Davies brings to the defensive line, Leeds United’s interest doesn’t come as a surprise, and given that he is heading towards the end of his contract at Hotspur Way, it might sit nicely with the chiefs at Hotspur Way and their financial strategy, given how Levy has been working towards refreshing and adding young strength to the squad. And if Davies moved to Leeds, he would fit perfectly in the Whites possible promotion campaign.
The logic of cashing in should push the Lilywhites to let Davies go, but it also forces the Australian head coach into an unfortunately difficult reality: letting Davies go, without replacing him right away, threatens to weaken what is already a fragile defence.

Tottenham continue to be arguably short in centre-backs, even with him in the roster at N17, and moreover, losing a player like Davies, who has been ever so reliable for the club, can leave the club open to problems at the back.
