Tottenham Hotspur recently announced the extension of 19-year-old defender Alfie Dorrington contract at White Hart Lane with the Hotspur Way starlet committing to a stay put at N17 till 2029.
These contract extensions are further show of the the commitment that Daniel Levy and the chiefs at Hotspur Way have to invest and back their young players.
And following the announcement of his new contract, Dorrington was sent out on loan to Aberdeen, which is a smart step taken by the Lilywhites as they look to aid his introduction to men’s football.
Dorrington is known for his ball-playing antics from the back, and we saw his attributes when he captained England’s Under 19 side with maturity and confidence way beyond his youthful years. This is an ability to not only read the game but also have the technical ability that has made him a bright talent coming out of the academy at N17.
Wenham backs Dorrington loan

And Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham insists that this loan spell will be important to Dorrington and that he gave full backing to the 2005-born ace’s move to Scotland on loan. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, the podcast host said:
“I think he could have gone anywhere from the Championship to Scotland. We’re talking about a ball-playing, Under-19 England captain. He is very confident, and I have no issue with him heading out on loan. I think people are now going to notice just how good he is.
“Therefore, I think this loan move will be good for Dorrington.”
Will he follow path to first team at Tottenham?
Aberdeen has the experience of young players to advance and could be the perfect place for Dorrington to fine-tune his game. Moreover, the Scottish Premiership is a league that can test his physicality and intensity (while developing them as well) and the Lilywhites will be hoping to track his progress in this loan and his probable integration into Ange Postecoglou’s first team at Hotspur Way down the line.
Tottenham will hope Dorrington’s time at White Hart Lane is one to remember after several previous Lilywhites loanees.
