Tottenham Hotspur are looking to sign a striker in the ongoing winter transfer window, and they are looking to pursue a move for Ipswich City striker Liam Delap, although the North Londoners could face a significant hurdle to secure his signature due to Manchester City’s buy-back clause.
While the Lilywhites are linked with several centre-forward options, Delap is a unique opportunity given how he is thriving for the Tractor Boys; however, the Premier League champions do retain control over their academy graduate’s future.
Wyness speaks about City involvement

And former Everton and Aston Villa CEO Keith Wyness shared insights about a possible move with Football Insider, revealing that the Cityzens may trigger their buy-back clause to either retain Delap or sell him on for profit. He said:
“I’ve been speaking to friends of mine who know Liam Delap’s career and have followed him very closely. They rate him very highly. They think he’s a classic forward. He’s physical, built, quick, young – he’s got all the right talents.
“City have got the buy-back but I think if they get Marmoush, they may be prepared to do a deal to bring him back and re-sell him. I do think he’ll go elsewhere in the Premier League. He’ll be on the list of most clubs who are looking at striking options.”
A move for Delap makes more sense in the summer?
Given Delap’s physique complemented by his speed and high potential, he has garnered interest from multiple Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Tottenham, and Chelsea.
The Lilywhites have been prioritising a move for PSG ace Randal Kolo Muani for the ongoing window; however, with the Frenchman set to move to Juventus, Levy could turn his gaze to other options. Delap may be seen as a long-term solution for the central forward position, possibly replacing Richarlison if he exits the club in the ongoing winter or upcoming summer window.
While the club is looking to bring someone on an immediate basis as Ange looks to revive the North Londoners season, getting into the realities of it, Delap could be a more realistic target in the summer transfer market when Richarlison’s future becomes a bit clearer.
