Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing Andrei Ratiu to potentially replace Pedro Porro.

Tottenham star Pedro Porro has emerged as a target for Manchester City

Tottenham Hotspur have started the January transfer window well, but still require reinforcements to cover long-term injuries in the first team.

The Lilywhites have brought in goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky as cover for the injured No.1 Guglielmo Vicario, who is not expected to return until late February. They have shown an interest in adding a forward to Ange Postecoglou’s roster, with Paris Saint-Germain’s Randal Kolo Muani appearing to be the club’s top target at this moment.

However, some Spurs players have been linked with an exit. Pedro Porro is one of those, having emerged as a target for his ex-employers Manchester City. Pep Guardiola’s club view the Tottenham star as the perfect long-term replacement for Kyle Walker, who has asked to leave Man City in this transfer window.

Pedro Porro has been among the rare bright spots in an otherwise disappointing campaign under Ange Postecoglou. The 25-year-old has started 17 of the North London side’s 20 Premier League games during the current campaign, registering two goals and four assists in that time. The Spaniard’s impressive displays have caught the attention of some of Europe’s elite, with Real Madrid also vying for his signature.

Nonetheless, after Pep Guardiola confirmed that Walker had asked to quit the Sky Blues, it is a possibility that the English champions intensifies their interest in signing Porro. Ex-Spurs scout Bryan King expects Spurs to ask in the region of £60million for their right-back amid Man City links. He thinks the Spaniard to be a good replacement for Walker at the Etihad Stadium.

“I think Porro would cost somewhere around £60million,” Bryan King exclusively told Tottenham News.

“Guardiola will know plenty about Porro already, and I think he could be a good replacement for Walker at Manchester City. Therefore, I expect Porro to be on Manchester City’s transfer shortlist.”

Spurs signed Porro from Sporting CP in January 2023, and he has become a reliable player for the team since then. He has improved leaps and bounds under Big Ange’s tutelage, establishing himself as one of the most exciting right-backs in the division.

Given his rise in stature, Tottenham will likely struggle to keep hold of the Don Benito-born talent if Walker departs City. But Spurs would be in a great negotiating position as Porro’s contract at White Hart Lane doesn’t expire until June 2028 (Transfermarkt).

Big Ange will be desperate to keep hold of Porro, who has managed to keep himself fit in the midst of the club’s injury crisis. Losing the Spanish international would be a big blow for the Greek-Aussie tactician and Spurs but it is now a big possibility after Walker’s decision to leave City this month.
