Tottenham willing to test Manchester United resolve with bid for Alejandro Garnacho

They may have extended Son Heung-min’s contract for the time being, but between him, Richarlison’s imminent exit and Timo Werner’s unreliability, there’s no doubt Tottenham are in need of a long-term solution out wide.

To fix this matter, they’re believed to be preparing an outlandish move.

Tottenham willing to test Man United’s resolve with a bid for Alejandro Garnacho

According to a Football Transfers claim, Tottenham Hotspur are readying a bid for Man United forward Alejandro Garnacho.

The Argentina international is being considered by the Red Devils alongside Marcus Rashford as a player the club could move to generate pure profit and comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules in order to have strong financial footing going into this year’s summer transfer window.

The speculation regarding the 20-year-old has been gathering even more pace because of his form this season, which have been deemed average at best in stark contrast to his performances from last season.

The aforementioned report suggests the imminent Tottenham bid could go as high as £60 million to test whether United would be willing to part ways with a prized academy asset and let him go to a direct league rival.

TTLB Opinion

Garnacho’s performances have not been as bad as the widespread criticism would have one believe. The emotional whiplash brought about by Erik ten Hag’s dismissal and dismal form under Ruben Amorim after a few strong weeks, which itself is arriving on the back of what have been 11 underwhelming seasons at Old Trafford, means players can not even go two weeks struggling on the pitch before the fans come calling for their heads. Football fandom in the age of social media is fickle everywhere, but United fans are some of the worst examples of this reality.

Garnacho has eight goals and five assists this season; last season he had ten and five, respectively. We’ll let you decide if this warrants an outcry over poor form.

One thing is for certain tho—the Sir Jim Ratcliffe–led Man United is not above cutting anyone off the wage bill, as we have been seeing in the non-playing side of their roster. They may think twice over a potential offer from Tottenham, but they won’t outright reject it, and so it makes sense for the Lilywhites to at least have a go.

Garnacho is an exciting winger capable of playing on either wing and showing all signs of an attacking player who can transform into a wide forward. If they can, there’s no harm on Tottenham’s part to have a go.
