Tottenham Hotspur have been looking to bring in defensive reinforcements in the ongoing winter transfer window given the fact that the Lilywhites have been struggling defensively in the ongoing 2024/25 campaign owing to a lack of depth at the heart of the defence, and the North Londoners have been linked with multiple players to fill in the role, including once Inter Milan wall Milan Skriniar.
While Spurs are suggested to be most advanced in their battle to bring the now PSG ace to the Premier League, the English top-tier rivals, Aston Villa, have now expressed interest in landing the 28-year-old, per L’Equipe via Sport Witness.
The Ligue 1 giants are open to parting ways with the Slovakian international this winter, and Tottenham (and now Aston Villa) are looking to take advantage of such a market opportunity.
Do Tottenham need a new defender amid Skriniar rumour

The Lilywhites have been without Cristian Romero and van de Ven at N17, with the Lilywhites having to play makeshift solution in Archie Grey at the heart of defence alongside Radu Drăgușin. While they have done a decent job, Tottenham do need immediate reinforcements in central defence.
And Skriniar brings ample experience at the highest level in commanding defences, and that might suggest he would be a good fit for Ange Postecoglou. However, with Romero, van de Ven, and Davies set to return soon, the Australian head coach may not need the Slovakian at N17.
