Tottenham could make a late move for Ligue 1 defensive star

Tottenham, hoping to salvage their season following wins against Liverpool and Tamworth, have slipped back into familiar struggles with the loss to Arsenal, partly due to a controversial corner that led to a goal. To address their defensive issues, reports suggest that Tottenham are considering signing PSG defender Milan Skriniar in the January transfer window to strengthen their squad.

Milan Skriniar is an Inter Milan legend who moved to PSG last season, but this was the player with 246 club appearances and 77 international caps. Unfortunately, he could not perform to expectations, having featured in just five matches with only four of those coming from the start, so he cannot wait to get out of the Parc des Princes and look for some proper footballing.

Tottenham eye late January move for PSG defender

Tottenham are starting to feel the squeeze of their current injury crisis as the team struggles on the big stage. In that respect, there have been reports that Tottenham are targeting PSG’s Milan Skriniar in their aim to strengthen up their defence ahead of January transfer.

Speaking on Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke said that fans should look out for the Slovakian centre-back, who is said to be on the verge of leaving the French giants this month.

Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero are also coming back from injuries and the recruitment team at Tottenham are still looking out for some defensive cover for strengthening their bench strength. The return of Skriniar in the market has generated huge buzz within the club and they certainly need a defensive addition as an option in this window.

While Spurs have focused so far this month on attacking reinforcements, attention now seems to be shifting towards the backline. Skriniar is believed to be a top target, though the club are also exploring other defensive options as the transfer deadline looms.

Turning 30 next month, the centre-back is seen as a short-term solution to what remains a long-term issue for Tottenham in North London. The Slovakian defender would make a strong addition to the squad.
