“Massive issue”- Fabrizio Romano provides latest scoop on Postecoglou’s Tottenham future

Ange Postecoglou is under fire as Tottenham’s struggling season continues

Everton ripped through Tottenham Hotspur’s sandcastle defence in the first half at Goodison Park to set up a 3-2 victory in the Premier League.

The visitors fought back with two late goals from Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison, but they couldn’t rescue a point as David Moyes’ side picked up an all-important three points. The result on Sunday has dragged Ange Postecoglou’s side into the relegation battle.

With no wins in the last six Premier League games, it has become a catastrophic stretch of form for Spurs. The defeat at Goodison Park marked the North London outfit’s 12th league loss of the season, a statistic that now casts uncertainty over the future of Ange Postecoglou.

The veteran tactician has been warned by talkSPORT pundit Alan Pardew that he is now under pressure at White Hart Lane. This woeful form has turned last season’s optimism into frustration, with a certain section of the fanbase calling for the board to sack Postecoglou.

However, reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Postecoglou’s future, stating that there has been no substantial info on his position at the club. Injuries are understood to be a huge issue and one of the mitigating reasons why the Tottenham project is presently not working.

“At the moment, no substantial updates on Ange Postecoglou’s position. Let’s see what happens in the next few days but injuries are considered a massive issue and one of the reasons why Spurs’ plan is currently not working,” Fabrizio Romano wrote in his GIVEMESPORT newsletter.

With one win in 10 Premier League games and the gap to the bottom three just eight points—and four to 16th-placed Everton—Tottenham are in crisis. Indeed, Spurs’ absentee list is long. Dominic Solanke has now entered the treatment room which already has Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Guglielmo Vicario, Destiny Udogie and Wilson Odobert.

Ange Postecoglou is under severe pressure at Tottenham following a dismal run of form in the Premier League

While the Lilywhites have been tormented by injury woes in recent weeks and months, it could not excuse their shambolic performance at Everton, with Big Ange making heavy admission after the defeat. He has been naïve and has not done enough to adapt to the current situation. The Greek-Aussie boss’ stubbornness in sticking with an open, attacking and expansive style of football is seeing his side constantly getting undone.

Big Ange’s white army have lost four of their last five games in the Premier League and that, quite simply, is relegation form. At the moment, it’s tough to see how the Australian will be able to keep his job at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with potential managerial candidates being lined up to replace him.
