Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou is under severe pressure after Everton defeat
Tottenham Hotspur produced another listless display last time out in the Premier League, losing 3-2 away to struggling Everton.
They were 3-0 down at halftime, and had Everton taken their chances, it could have been an even more embarrassing scoreline for Ange Postecoglou’s side. While Spurs clawed back via goals from Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison, it was not enough as they suffered their fifth Premier League defeat in the last six games.
Currently placed 15th in the table, Ange Postecoglou undoubtedly finds himself in a zone that would usually see a manager lose his job, especially when the North Londoners are used to competing for European places. While the hierarchy are internally backing Postecoglou, it would be naïve to believe he isn’t under pressure.

Spurs could look at Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola to replace Postecoglou if he is sacked, and the Australian tactician was heavily criticised on Sunday after the loss to Everton. And it has now emerged that there are players who have doubts about playing an open, expansive brand of football at N17.
According to a report from the Daily Mail, some Tottenham players have lost faith in Postecoglou. While the majority of them are still behind the 59-year-old, certain players have complained about the ‘demands of training’ and as well as expressed unhappiness with the taxing schedule.
When things start to become challenging at Tottenham, a similar excuse seems to emerge from the players and Big Ange is the latest victim of this. It happened with his predecessors too, so this is nothing new or supporters. The White Hart Lane faithful will now be all too acquainted with such childish excuses having heard the same under the likes of Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte.

Spurs have no immediate plans to part ways with Big Ange, with the Hotspur Way chiefs feeling that the unprecedented injury situation has been the prime factor behind the forgettable 2024/25 campaign. The Greek-Aussie coach was without as many as 11 first-team players for the trip to Everton where we suffered our 12th defeat of the league campaign.

Big Ange does have an excuse in that he’s working with an incredibly depleted squad right now. However, the performance at Goodison Park—especially in the first half—was unforgivable and intolerable, and the coach has to take a share of the blame for the defeat. Given the circumstances Spurs find themselves in, Levy must accelerate the club’s transfer activity and bring in reinforcements before the transfer window slams shut.
