Marco Silva could be a contender to replace Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou is under increasing pressure in the wake of his team’s current struggles.
The North Londoners were beaten 3-2 by Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday, stretching their woeful run in the Premier League. They have now lost five of their last six matches in the top flight, leaving them a lowly 15th in the table.
With only eight points separating them from the drop zone, questions have started being asked about Ange Postecoglou’s position at White Hart Lane. Indeed, Tottenham’s players are far from happy with training, while some are questioning the Australian’s tactics and the taxing schedule. Of course, there has been a lot of speculation about the 59-year-old’s future, and while Football London journalist Alasdair Gold says the hierarchy are internally backing Postecoglou, potential replacements have also been shortlisted.

According to a report from The Daily Mail, Fulham boss Marco Silva has emerged as a contender to replace Postecoglou if he is sacked by Tottenham. While the Lilywhites are in no rush to axe the Australian tactician mid-season, they ‘admire’ Marco Silva.
Silva is now in his fourth full season at Craven Cottage, aiming to replicate or better his best-ever Premier League finish with Fulham this season. He guided the Cottagers to a 10th-place finish in the 2022/23 season before ending the following campaign 13th in the table. The West Londoners currently sit 10th in the table after 22 games, having drawn with Spurs, Liverpool and Arsenal so far.
The Portuguese tactician has an £8million release clause in his contract at Fulham. Silva has gained extensive experience managing in the Premier League over the years, but it could be tough to lure him across the capital, especially in mid-season and due to his hefty release clause. Spurs’ unprecedented injury situation and lowly position in the table could also be unappealing to the 47-year-old, who appears focused on guiding the Cottagers to a European spot.
