“Maybe two to three weeks…” – Tottenham lose 26 appearance midfielder to hamstring concern

Tottenham star Yves Bissouma highlighted for holding 'his own' against European favourites.

Injuries have been one of the biggest challenges for Tottenham Hotspur in the ongoing 2024/25 campaign as Ange Postecoglou’s side continues to endure a difficult season, and the Australian head coach now has another player that has taken up a bed in the treatment room as midfielder Yves Bissouma has been added to the Lilywhites growing list of injured players. The Mali international is one of the key players at N17, and now the former Brighton star is facing a spell on the sidelines because of a hamstring issue.

Bissouma injury, O’Keefe gives an update

Ange Postecoglou wants Yves Bissouma to take up Tottenham leadership role.
Yves Bissouma will face a spell on sidelines.

Journalist Paul O’Keefe took to X to confirm via the injury, insisting that it appears to be a minor hamstring strain. He goes on to suggest that Bissouma will be a missing figure in the Tottenham roster for around two to three weeks. However, that being said, the North Londoners are waiting for further scan results to confirm the severity of the injury.

He noted: “Yves Bissouma has a slight hamstring strain. Awaiting more scan results. They don’t think it’s major—or at least hope. Maybe two to three weeks.”

Consistency is a problem with Yves

While Bissouma has been an inconsistent figure in his initial season at White Hart Lane following his £30 million move from Brighton in 2022, he has now become an integral part of Tottenham’s midfield.

While commanding the midfield, the Malian has made 26 appearances across all competitions this season and netted a couple of goals in the process. But while he has shown his capabilities, the 28-year-old has struggled to keep his consistency, something that has frustrated the Lilywhites supporters time and time again. Though that being said, he is still an important part of that squad, especially given the current injury situation.

At the moment, Spurs sit 15th in the Premier League table with pressure mounting on Ange Postecoglou, and another injury will further derail their season.

Now Tottenham supporters need to hope that the injury isn’t a serious one and Bissouma is back among contention in the already anticipated time period, and moreover this further gives Daniel Levy the necessity to drop into the transfer market and sign a midfielder.
