Ange Postecoglou makes latest admission on Tottenham’s January transfer activity
Many felt that Tottenham Hotspur’s 3-2 defeat at Everton on Sunday would be the final nail in the coffin of Ange Postecoglou’s spell in North London. However, the Spurs hierarchy have internally given him a vote of confidence to turn things around, but quickly.
The Australian tactician has come under huge pressure following a wretched run of just one win in the last 10 Premier League games. The Lilywhites’ last league win was a 5-0 drubbing of basement boys Southampton in mid-December. Following that they have lost five of their last six Premier League games, with Ange Postecoglou continuing to battle an injury crisis.
Postecoglou has been crying out for reinforcements, but the club are yet to sign an outfield player in this winter transfer window. An unprecedented injury situation has exposed deficiencies across key areas of the squad, thus, hampering the team’s momentum and stability in both domestic and European competitions.

Reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that the Hotspur Way chiefs are “privately working” on a forward signing and are exploring the market to bolster Postecoglou’s attacking ranks. However, Big Ange dropped a worrying update on transfers during his pre-match press conference against Hoffenheim in the Europa League.
When asked if is there a chance Tottenham might not sign anybody before the window slams shut, Big Ange told Football London:
“Yeah, potentially. The club is working hard to get some help for the players. As far as I am aware there is nothing imminent but in the last week of the window things happen quickly.”
With less than two weeks remaining before the transfer window slams shut, Tottenham have only secured the services of young goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky from Slavia Prague. The signing of Kinsky was made to address an immediate need in the goalkeeping department after Guglielmo Vicario’s long-term injury and his deputy Fraser Forster’s struggles.

Beyond that, though, several players have been linked with moves to White Hart Lane but Daniel Levy and his recruitment team are yet to crack a deal to date. There is a clear need to address several key areas of the squad to get the season back on track and navigate through this difficult phase.
