“Think they would accept £50m for him…” – transfer expert backs Tottenham for big money bid to land striking target

Tottenham handed a boost in their pursuit of Liam Delap.

Tottenham Hotspur have been in the market looking to bring in a new centre forward, especially after the Lilywhites recent loss of Dominic Solanke to injury, and the North Londoners have been eyeing a move to bring Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap to White Hart Lane. The Man City academy graduate has been impressive for the Tractor Boys in the ongoing campaign and has not only proven his potential but also shown that he can carry a team through thick and thin.

And his age, complemented by high potential, is ideal for Daniel Levy’s recent transfer policy, where he looks to nurture a starlet’s potential within the corridors of Hotspur Way.

A hefty bid enough for Delap

Now many think that Ipswich will not let go of Delap given how critical he is for their goal-scoring potential and vis-à-vis their survival hopes; however, transfer expert and former Spurs scout Bryan King suggests that the Premier League newcomers would accept a bid of £50m for the 21-year-old’s signatures.

The Lilywhites will face competition from city rivals Chelsea, with Daniel Levy considering a potential “blockbuster” move to bring Delap to White Hart Lane this winter transfer window. And speaking about it in an exclusive interview on Tottenham News, King said:

“Delap is an old-fashioned English centre-forward. I thought Spurs already had one of those in Will Lankshear. However, it doesn’t seem as though the club agrees with that. Delap was never going to get a chance at Manchester City with Erling Haaland around. However, he has done well at Ipswich—he has as many goals as Solanke and Richarlison combined in the Premier League this season.

“Personally, I think Spurs need a striker. Whether or not Ipswich would be prepared to let him go is a different story. However, I think they would accept £50m for him. Spurs paid that kind of money for Solanke and Richarlison, and this is a young English player who is producing goals.”

Ange Postecoglou is under serious pressure for his job at N17, and he would need someone like Delap, who can carry the team in terms of goals, given how he has shown promise and precision in his outings so far this season.

However, we will need to see if Daniel Levy is willing to shell out such hefty money in the middle of the season just months from a big-money Dominic Solanke transfer.
