Tottenham are eyeing a move for Lille star Angel Gomes
The January transfer window is entering its final stretch, and clubs have started to intensify their transfer activities unlike Tottenham Hotspur, who have only managed to acquire the services of young goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky from Slavia Prague.
Ange Postecoglou made a transfer plea after his team’s defeat to Everton last Sunday, which marked the Lilywhites’ fifth league defeat in six games. While there is no doubt about the fact that Spurs have been extremely unlucky on the injury front this season, which has seen the majority of the squad visiting the treatment facility at some point this season, the Australian head coach has emphasised the need for reinforcements since December.
Tottenham have been linked with several players in recent months, including LOSC Lille midfielder Angel Gomes. And now they have received a boost in their pursuit of the player.

According to an exclusive report from GIVEMESPORT, Lille star Angel Gomes prefers a move to Tottenham instead of Manchester United or West Ham United.
The 24-year-old has entered the final six months of his contract at Lille (Transfermarkt), where he has been since 2020 and racked up 130 appearances, scoring nine goals and supplying 19 assists. The diminutive midfielder has endured an injury-hit 2024/25 campaign, limiting him to only eight Ligue 1 starts.
Gomes’ contract situation has led to him being at the heart of a tug-of-war, with Premier League sides able to tie him down to a pre-contract agreement ahead of completing the move when he becomes a free agent in the summer. There is now a growing confidence within the Spurs camp of the England international preferring them over Man United and West Ham.

Consequently, the aforementioned report adds that the Lilywhites are putting together a proposal to table for Gomes, who came through the ranks at Man United before making a name for himself in French football. Tottenham cannot afford to lose out on a talent like Gomes, as Postecoglou seeks fresh competition for the likes of Rodrigo Bentancur, Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma in the engine room.

With Bissouma’s contract up in 2026, the Lille playmaker could be viewed as an option to replace him at White Hart Lane. And on a potential cut-price deal this month, adding Gomes to Big Ange’s roster makes total sense for the Hotspur Way chiefs.
