‘Attractive’ Tottenham veteran backed to make January exit

Fraser Forster’s time at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium could be ending sooner than expected, with reports suggesting that the veteran goalkeeper could possibly secure a White Hart Lane exit before the winter transfer window comes to a close on 3 February.

The 36-year-old has been a decent backup option at N17, but many supporters are now questioning his place in the side given how he has gone down the pecking order after the Lilywhites January arrival, Kinsky, who has showed his composure since moving to Hotspur Way and has received high praises from fans and pundits alike.

Forster to leave N17?

Forster can leave Tottenham this window

Forster has fallen down the pecking order with academy keeper Austin seemingly ahead of him, complemented by the fact that first-choice goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario is expected to return from injury soon; the former Southampton goalie’s prospects to don the gloves look increasingly less.

And John Wenham, the owner of the reputed Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, insists that Forster could be leaving the club this winter while citing the fact that his contract is set to expire in the summer.

The podcast host speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News said:

“It seems like Austin is firmly ahead of Forster in the pecking order. Therefore, it is possible now that Forster moves on during the winter transfer window, especially if another team needs a goalkeeper. Austin seems to have established himself in front of Forster, and with Forster’s contract up in the summer, now would be a sensible time for him to move on.

“As a result, I could see Forster leaving the club imminently. I’m sure there will be plenty of clubs that could do with a homegrown goalkeeper as a back-up option, and Forster would be an attractive option.”

A silent servant at White Hart Lane

If Forster goes on to leave the club in the upcoming days, this would be an end to what has been a low-key and yet steady stint at Hotspur Way, and his departure would also make way for younger players like Austin to step up. That being said, Forster’s next club could depend on whether they are in need of an experienced face in between the sticks.
