Ange Postecoglou’s one-word response seals fate for Tottenham attacker

Tottenham’s injury issues have left them thin all over the pitch. The club are expected to be in the market to replenish themselves.

Another way of helping themselves would be calling back a player or two from loan, as Chelsea recently did with Trevoh Chalobah, and this is what their head coach had to say about that.

Ange Postecoglou's one-word response seals fate for Manor Solomon

Speaking ahead of his side’s upcoming Premier League game against Leicester City, Ange Postecoglou quashed the speculation regarding calling back some his out-on-loan players to deal with the ongoing injury crisis at the club.

In particular, the 59-year-old was asked about the possibility of bringing back Bryan Gil and Manor Solomon, to which he replied:

“No.”

As quoted by Football London.

Both Gil and Solomon have been a key part for their respective sides this season. Gil, on loan at Girona, has three goals and assists each in 25 appearances across all competitions, with the Catalan side making the push for European football qualification for another season. Solomon, on the other hand, has four goals and assists each in 20 league appearances and has become a key part of Daniel Farke’s plans at Leeds United, who are currently on top of the Championship table and looking to secure automatic promotion to the Premier League.

Spurs’ injury troubles have further worsened in recent days, with record signing Dominic Solanke the latest player set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

The Lilywhites returned to winning ways in the midweek with a 3-2 win over German Bundesliga side Hoffenheim in the Europa League.

TTLB Opinion

Given the way things are going, it doesn’t look like Postecoglou is going to have much of a say in terms of Spurs players’ long-term future; we do not expect him to remain at the club at the start of next season.

Solomon is a key player for a side looking all but set for Premier League football next season. Spurs may be able to get a good deal for him if Leeds were to make it to the Big Time, but we cannot rule out him being needed at the club by whoever succeeds Postecoglou in the summer.
