Richarlison is a player Tottenham have been looking to move on for quite a while.

While the Saudi Pro League is considered the Brazil international’s inevitable destination, the PIF may yet be able to get him firing in the Premier League in the near future.

Newcastle could be willing to pay £40m for Richarlison, claims journo

According to football journalist Ben Jacobs, Newcastle remain interested in Tottenham forward Richarlison and could be willing to pay as much as £40 million for him.

“I have spoken about Richarlison before, that is not a deal that Newcastle could look to do unless the price dropped significantly. Last summer Spurs wanted £60m, but Newcastle would only move for that kind of deal if it was £40m or under or if it’s a preferable structure, still one to keep a small eye on”

Jacobs on Newcastle’s interest in Richarlison, as quoted by TBR Football.

The Magpies are flying in the Premier League after a troubling start to the season, but they have injury issues of their own up front, with both Callum Wilson and Harvey Barnes struggling for fitness.

This is not the first time a PIF link has emerged with Richarlison, with the Saudi Pro League still considered a likely destination for the 27-year-old, with Spurs keen to move him on.

Having recently returned from injury himself, Richarlison has two goals and an assist from ten games.

TTLB Opinion

Given their injury problems, it is unlikely Spurs let Richarlison leave in this window, though as they say, £40m is “they’d bite your hand off” territory for them when it comes to a player they’d like to very much move on.

That said, Newcastle and Eddie Howe are exactly what Richarlison may bee needing after his recent struggles, and his compatriot Joelinton is an excellent example of how a player once much-maligned can become a well-regarded Premier League operator under the right circumstances. Richarlison already has all the right attributes; he just needs the right environment.

It’s unlikely this move comes about this January, though it would be a win-win for all parties involved here.
