Tottenham set to miss out on Santiago Giménez, who's bound for AC Milan

Tottenham contemplating to enter the race for Santiago Gimenez

Tottenham Hotspur have been in the market for a striker for some time now, and with the transfer window entering its business end, that search must accelerate.

Indeed, Dominic Solanke has been ruled out until mid-March while Brennan Johnson is set to be sidelined for a few weeks, as Spurs’ injury crisis worsens. Ange Postecoglou’s squad is seriously depleted at the moment, and he desperately needs new blood pumped into ranks before the transfer window slams shut.

A new striker is a priority at White Hart Lane, and after Randal Kolo Muani snubbed the Lilywhites to join Juventus on loan, the Hotspur Way chiefs have seemingly shifted their focus to other targets. Now, according to an exclusive report from GIVEMESPORT, Tottenham are contemplating entering the race for Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez.

The situation, however, is far from straightforward. AC Milan are looking to reach an agreement with Feyenoord over the transfer of Santiago Gimenez, who has been a long-term Spurs target. The Mexican international has been a hot property in the Eredivisie and beyond due to his sensational goalscoring form for Feyenoord over the last couple of seasons. He recently bagged a brace in Feyenoord’s excellent 3-0 win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

AC Milan are looking to wrap up a deal for Gimenez, who still has two-and-a-half-years remaining on his contract at the Feyenoord Stadium. The aforementioned report adds Milan’s keenness to sign the South American star has put Spurs on a red alert.

Feyenoord are in no rush to sell their marksman and could ask for up to £40million if Tottenham formalise their interest.

With just over a week to go in the transfer window, Spurs have to accelerate their transfer plans. They have supposedly revived their interest in Gimenez, and knowing fully well that Milan are hot on his trails, the North Londoners must hurry up and splash the cash to get his signature. The Mexican has proven himself in the Eredivisie and he is perhaps at the right age to make the step up to one of the most demanding leagues in Europe.
