Tottenham host Leicester City in the Premier League
Tottenham Hotspur host Leicester City on matchday 23 of the Premier League on Sunday, January 26th, at 14:00 UK time as they look to get back to winning ways in the English top flight. Ange Postecoglou’s grabbed a vital win in the Europa League match on Thursday as they saw off Hoffenheim and will be looking to put in a similar performance at the weekend versus the Foxes.
Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side is 19th in the Premier League standings, 10 points worse than Tottenham, who are themselves rooted in the bottom half at 15th place having won only seven of their 22 games in the campaign so far. There is increasing pressure on Postecoglou with the cup competitions bailing him out, although his position is precarious owing to league results.
Team News
Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur might be without as many as 11 players for the visit of Leicester City. Brennan Johnson, Cristian Romero, Destiny Udogie, Dominic Solanke, Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven, Timo Werner and Wilson Odobert are all expected to miss out, while the likes of Djed Spece, Pape Mata Sarr and Yves Bissouma are doubtful for the game.
Spurs have their Premier League top scorer fit and firing, however, as James Maddison could start the game against his former side on Sunday. With that said, Son Heung-min also put in perhaps his best performance of the 2024/25 season as he scored a brace against Hoffenheim on Thursday and will look to replicate the display against Leicester.
PREDICTED TOTTENHAM XI (3-4-3): Kinsky; Gray, Dragusin, Davies; Porro, Bentancur, Bergvall, Spence; Kulusevski, Son, Maddison

Leicester City
Leicester City come into the match with four absentees from the first team squad. Abdul Fatawu, Mads Hermansen, Wilfred Ndidi and Ricardo Pereira are expected to miss out owing to fitness problems. Ruud van Nistelrooy has no suspension headaches and will be able to count on his most potent source of goals in the Premier League on Sunday in Jamie Vardy.
The Foxes faced the Lilywhites in the very first match of the 2024/25 season and played out a 1-1 draw at the King Power Stadium. They will look to take inspiration from their opening day result from mid-August and will be happy with anything but a defeat on their visit to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in their upcoming game.
PREDICTED LEICESTER CITY XI (4-2-3-1): Stolarczyk; Justin, Faes, Vestergaard, Kristiansen; Winks, Soumare; Ayew, El Khannous, Mavididi; Vardy

Match-deciding duel
Radu Dragusin vs Jamie Vardy
With Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison and Son Heung-min expected to form the attacking trident, Tottenham will do a good job going forward and may score a couple of goals at least versus a weak Leicester City backline. They will need to defend particularly well too, however, with Jamie Vardy promising to be the visiting side’s most threatening attacker.
Radu Dragusin will be tasked with man-marking the experienced Englishman, who has been notorious for being the Premier League’s giant killer for the last several years. The Romanian international will most likely be up to the task having been in very decent form lately and if indeed he can have Vardy’s number, Spurs would have done over half their defensive work.

Prediction
Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 Leicester City
Leicester City could fall prey to Tottenham Hotspur’s first Premier League success of 2025 and their second successive victory in a matter of days. Ange Postecoglou’s side should be comfortable for much of the game with an in-form offensive trio making the difference and the five defenders in the starting eleven giving them a good foundation at the back.
