Lehane’s rise could prompt Tottenham to part ways with prolific striker

Academy starlet Will Lankshear eyeing a loan move away from Tottenham this January

Tottenham Hotspur young centre forward Will Lankshear has been subject to links with a move away from White Hart Lane as he looks for more playing time under his belt, and he may be allowed to leave during the winter transfer window because of the impressive form of academy striker Ellis Lehane. However, that being said, this will go down to Ange Postecoglou’s confidence in the young replacement amid the ongoing striking crisis at N17.

At the moment, the Lilywhites centre-forward Dominic Solanke faces a six-week spell on the sidelines, and this injury has left Spurs with limited options in the front line, forcing the Australian head coach to play Richarlison (who has had his share of injury concerns) and 19-year-old Lankshear.

Lankshear has shown glimpses of his potential in a short time this breakthrough season, and the striker is quite eager to get minutes under his belt, which could eventually lead to a loan departure despite the current injury problems at Hotspur Way.

Though the emergence of Lehane could allow Lankshear to pursue minutes elsewhere, per an exclusive by Tottenham News, with the striker netting six goals in 10 league games this season for the Under-18s.

This could eventually lead to him being included in the first team setup, which would be a domino effect in case of Lankshear’s exit.

Does he really need to go though?

It is to be seen where this goes, but given the circumstances at the moment, the 19-year-old should rather be eager to make a name for himself and impress Postecoglou rather than trying to pursue a move away in search of minutes that he could get at White Hart Lane if he grinds out this opportunity with Solanke injured.
