Tottenham Hotspur have been looking to work out deals going into the final seven days of the winter transfer window, and Daniel Levy may end up bringing in a surprise signing, 19-year-old non-league defender Jack Taylor, given his splendid performances for Sutton United, per TBR football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey. However, the Lilywhites will be joined by fellow Premier League rivals West Ham and Crystal Palace in the race for his signature.
The teenager is a product of Sutton United’s academy and started his season on loan at Hampton & Richmond Borough in the National League South, and his impressive performances for them pushed Sutton to recall him in the ongoing January window. After returning to his current employers, Taylor has gone on to become a regular starter for Sutton in League Two.
Jack Taylor – a ‘brilliant’ defender

And the North Londoners are serious about their pursuit of his signatures, given they had scouts in Sutton’s against York, where Taylor put in a Man of the Match performance. He has also been praised for his defensive abilities and composure, with Sutton Academy manager Jimmy Dack describing him as a “brilliant” defender.
A low risk that needs to be explored?
For Tottenham, there have been a lot of problems with injuries at the back and with Taylor. Ange Postecoglou can not only bring in a new face to support the defensive frailties but also someone who can hold the line at White Hart Lane for a long time.
And the fact that he is going to come through straight to the Premier League from non-league football shows his potential. This is one of the low-risk and high-potential-reward signings that Tottenham can make this winter.
