Ange Postecoglou remains confident he can overturn Tottenham Hotspur struggles
Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou has divided the fans and pundits as far as his future is concerned. While there are several who believe that he should be relieved of his duties on the basis of the team’s unacceptable standing in the Premier League table, many also think that the Australian has it in him to claim the club’s first piece of silverware in close to 20 years.

The man in charge of Tottenham was asked in the aftermath of the Leicester City defeat whether he feels the confidence to turn things around by the end of the campaign. Postecoglou was quoted saying the following by Football London.
“In some respects that’s in our hands. In at least two competitions we’re in good shape to make an impact. I think you can turn that around pretty quickly with some positive results at the right time.”
Tottenham’s position in the Carabao Cup will be put to the test next week at Anfield, where they will carry a 1-0 advantage from the first leg of their semi-final meeting versus Liverpool from earlier on. It remains to be seen if any injured players return for the game, but progression to the final could buy Postecoglou some more time at the Tottenham hot seat, unless of course, Daniel Levy uncharacteristically fires him before a cup final, as he infamously did with Jose Mourinho in 2021.
In the Europa League, Spurs are very likely to finish in the top 8, so their passage to the round of 16 is a guarantee. The European competition is not all as competitive this year as it has been in the past, so a fully fit Tottenham side has a very good shot at going all the way by the end of the season, and might very possibly be considered the favourites ahead of Manchester United.

While the FA Cup is obviously a competition Spurs will battle to win as well, it remains to be seen how much focus they are able to give it as Postecoglou’s priorities might be the other two cups alongside moving up the Premier League. It is also fair to say that the current Tottenham squad is far from the favourite for the FA Cup, so it should be a tournament that not many should expect a lot from.
