Sport scientist fires Tosin Adarabioyo warning to Tottenham Hotspur
A defensive overhaul is expected to be high on Tottenham Hotspur’s list of priorities for the summer transfer window, especially with Ange Postecoglou having to deal with injuries to Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven for several weeks this season. It is likely that a central defender and probably a left-back also will be acquired by the club ahead of the start of 2025/26.
It has been speculated that in their search for a centre-back, Spurs are not looking too far beyond and would be prepared to speak with a direct rival. Chelsea star Tosin Adarabioyo has emerged on their radar for a while and a summer move for the Englishman could be possible with Enzo Maresca also looking into bringing in a player or two in his back four.
Adarabioyo joined Chelsea from Fulham as a free agent before the current campaign got underway but has struggled for minutes for the better part of this season. Levi Colwill and Wesley Fofana have been Maresca’s preferred pairing in the heart of the backline, with Adarabioyo’s playing time staying largely limited to the domestic cup competitions and the Europa Conference League.

And although he has played more minutes recently than at the start of the campaign, his inclusion in the starting eleven has come owing to Wesley Fofana’s injury. As far as the longer run is concerned, there is not much optimism that Adarabioyo would play regular minutes at Stamford Bridge. Spurs, however, have been fired a warning as Rajpal Brar, a sports scientist, said the following to Tottenham Hotspur news.
“While he has not had injury issues, he has not featured regularly all season. It would be of some concern because you need consistent minutes to build fitness and rhythm and reduce injury risk. In terms of him adapting to the move, as he’s been in the same league, he’ll be used to the conditions.“
Adarabioyo will not cost Spurs a bomb but with the season that they have had, they need to be absolutely sure about a prospective signing’s injury record. However, it would be unfair to think that Tottenham’s latest target will not be a good fit only due to a lack of minutes at Chelsea as he was a regular fixture in the Fulham team for a reasonable while and proved his fitness at Craven Cottage.
