Tottenham want to sign Barcelona starlet Ansu Fati on loan with an option to buy in the summer
Tottenham Hotspur have been vying to bring in highly regarded young players at White Hart Lane and unlock their true potential as part of their newfound transfer strategy.
The North Londoners are understood to be looking at several new signings as injuries rip through their squad, with Fabrizio Romano claiming a new forward is the club’s priority. An injury crisis has seen the likes of Richarlison and Wilson Odobert miss a lot of action this season. Now, Dominic Solanke and Brennan Johnson have also been ruled out for weeks with respective issues, which makes a signing in this position an absolute necessity.
Spurs admitted defeat in the race to sign Randal Kolo Muani on loan from Paris Saint-Germain earlier this month. Kolo Muani has since joined Juventus on loan and scored a goal as well. It emerged more than a week ago that Tottenham were interested in a move for Barcelona forward Ansu Fati.

-> Tottenham submit proposal to sign Barcelona winger
The 22-year-old’s career has been derailed in the last two years with persistent injuries, inconsistency and form impacting his incredible breakthrough for club and country. He has struggled for minutes at Barcelona this season, starting just one league game under new boss Hansi Flick. He was on the bench in Barcelona’s 7-1 smashing of Valencia at the weekend.
A fresh update has now emerged suggesting that the La Liga giants would be more than happy to push through a deal for Ansu Fati if Spurs came calling. According to a report from Spanish outlet Fichajes, Tottenham are considering a late loan move for Fati, who has been given the green light from the club to leave as he doesn’t feature in Hansi Flick’s plans.
Fati insists on staying at his boyhood club despite not being afforded minutes by the German tactician. The Guinea-Bissau born-talent, who spent the last season on loan at Brighton and Hove Albion, is ready to fight for his place at Camp Nou.
However, the aforementioned report adds that Barcelona want to ‘speed up’ Fati’s exit as they wish to make room for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, who has already understood to have agreed personal terms with the Spanish club.

-> Tottenham seeking loan-to-buy option to land Barcelona attacker
As far as Spurs are concerned, they have proposed a loan move until the end of the season with an option to buy the Spanish international in the summer. This option could be deemed realistic by Barcelona, as long as the Lilywhites cover a significant portion of the young forward’s wages.
There is no doubt that Fati is a sublime talent who has regressed in the last couple of years due to fitness concerns. With so many key attackers currently on the sidelines, the Barcelona starlet would have a great opportunity to make an impression immediately at Tottenham and cement his position in Postecoglou’s starting XI.

Fati is speedy, unpredictable, creative and can operate in different positions across the front-line, so Big Ange could also benefit from having a talent like him in the squad. That being said, the Hotspur Way chiefs must push for the 22-year-old’s signature and get a deal done.
