The future of Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou is in doubt after 2-1 defeat to Leicester
Tottenham Hotspur’s dismal Premier League season continued on Sunday when they were beaten 2-1 by Leicester City at home.
With the defeat to Leicester City, Spurs remained a lowly 15th in the table, just eight points above a dreaded relegation spot. Ange Postecoglou finds himself under increasing scrutiny as Spurs’ struggles in the Premier League show no signs of stopping. He said the defeat to Leicester ‘hurts’ but that he ‘couldn’t ask for more from his players’ but there will be huge doubts over his future.
Despite moments of promise, the 59-year-old’s tenure at White Hart Lane has been blighted by different challenges, with one of those primely being injuries. Tottenham had up to 11 first-team players missing during the embarrassing loss to Leicester.

Winless in his last seven Premier League games, there has been a lot of speculation surrounding the future of the Greek-Australian tactician. He has been heavily linked with the sack from the club, though no decision has been made as the North Londoners remain intent on bolstering their squad in the final week of the January transfer window.
If they do opt for a change in the dugout, a report from the Spanish outlet Fichajes claims Tottenham would consider appointing former Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag.
Erik ten Hag was sacked by Manchester United in October after a woeful start to the 2024/25 season, securing just four wins in 14 matches across all competitions and only three in the Premier League. The Dutch tactician has been linked with a return to the management in the last couple of weeks and was named as a potential candidate for Borussia Dortmund, who axed Nuri Sahin after just six months last week.

The 54-year-old won two trophies in as many years with the Red Devils, but his style of play, man-management skills and strategy were often criticised by fans and pundits alike. Ten Hag’s contract was extended by INEOS after Man United beat cross-town rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final in May, but a poor couple of months into the new season eventually got him the sack.

The ex-Ajax tactician’s potential availability remains speculative, but his inclusion on the list of candidates highlights Tottenham’s wide considerations for their next appointment. For now, though, Big Ange seems safe as Spurs remain in the market for transfer business in the final days of the window.
