Rising midfield star admits to “good ambitions” that convinced him to sign for Tottenham

While Tottenham have faced challenges in the Premier League, currently positioned at 15th, their performances in cup competitions tell a different story. With an ongoing injury crisis, several young players have had the opportunity to prove themselves, including Archie Gray, who has been tried in various roles. After earning a place in Tottenham’s starting line-up, Lucas Bergvall shares his thoughts on choosing Spurs over interest from Barcelona.

It was well documented, that Tottenham beat Barcelona to secure the signing of the Swedish attacker in January of last year. In May, Swede disclosed that he opted for Spurs over Barcelona, believing it suited his style better. According to Spanish reports, Barcelona had a verbal agreement with Bergvall, but Tottenham came in with a much more attractive offer for both the player and his agent.

The N-17 more suited to Bergvall’s style

The Swedish attacker, now taking advantage of the injury crisis, has established himself as a key player in Tottenham’s line-up. He has now won over fans by scoring an important first goal for the Lilywhites in the Carabao Cup’s first leg against Liverpool, which helped secure a vital victory.

The 18-year-old has adapted well to the toughness of Premier League football, making regular appearances over the past two months and showing continuous improvement with each game. He has no regrets about his decision to join Spurs and has shared insights about his transition to top-flight football.

In an interview with The Sun, Bergvall reflected on his decision, stating that he believed Tottenham was the best club for him due to its great ambitions. He expressed that he feels he is improving daily, and benefiting from training with the team and staff. He acknowledged that transitioning from the Swedish league to the Premier League has been challenging, with the running and physical demands being notably different.

Bergvall speaking to The Sun, admitted he has no regrets about joining the North London club

“When I decided, I thought that Tottenham was the best club for me. It is a great club with good ambitions.”

“I feel I am getting better every day. Training with all the boys and all the staff, I’m getting used to it. It’s not an easy change coming from the Swedish league. Everything is different. The running, the physical part… everything.”
