Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing Lorient striker Eli Junior Kroupi
Tottenham Hotspur has been vying to bring in highly regarded young players at White Hart Lane and nurture them into their potential in this newfound transfer policy, and Daniel Levy has now been eyeing a move for an 18-year-old striker who is dominating Ligue 2 this season.
French sensation Eli Junior Kroupi has been showing his potential in the French second tier this season and boasts eight goals alongside a couple of assists in 16 league games thus far, spearheading FC Lorient’s promotion bid. This has got multiple clubs across Europe looking to secure his signature.
According to an exclusive report from Football Insider, Tottenham are battling bitter London rivals Chelsea for the signing of Eli Junior Kroupi, who also finds himself on the radars of Real Madrid, Barcelona and RB Leipzig.

Considered one of the best young talents in France, Kroupi broke into FC Lorient side at the tender age of just 16 and hasn’t looked back since. The France Under-19 international has already racked up 50 senior appearances for Lorient, netting 14 goals and supplying five assists. He also has gained decent experience in Ligue 1 with 31 appearances under his banner, before Lorient suffered relegation at the end of last season.
The aforementioned report adds the teenager has entered the final 18 months of his contract at the Stade du Moustoir. Lorient are aware of the growing interest in their star striker and value him in the region of £30 million ahead of the February 3 transfer deadline.
As for Tottenham, Ange Postecoglou’s options in forward areas have become light following the recent injuries to Dominic Solanke and Brennan Johnson. Moreover, Richarlison has suffered a fresh potential injury setback during the 2-1 defeat to Leicester City on Sunday, further depleting the Spurs boss’ attacking ranks.

Thus, adding a new forward is of paramount importance before next week’s transfer deadline. However, while Kroupi is a highly-rated talent, it is very risky for Big Ange to rely on a teenager from Ligue 2 as a first-choice backup. Tottenham may need to complement his arrival with a more experienced striker to solidify short-term options upfront.

Pursuing Kroupi further shows Daniel Levy’s ambition to sign a promising prospect and unlock his potential among the ranks at Hotspur Way, and if Spurs are to sign the France youth international, he could become a long-term asset at N17. For that to happen, Levy must loosen his purse strings and splash out £30million.
