Paul O Keefe has revealed that Tottenham star James Maddison will be out of action for a few weeks
Tottenham Hotspur were without several key first-team players during their embarrassing 2-1 home defeat to Leicester City on Sunday.
James Maddison was among those players surprisingly, having arrived at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with the Spurs squad on Sunday. However, the creative midfielder was omitted from the squad with Ange Postecoglou stating the player was a bit sore from the midweek Europa League game against Hoffenheim. He was not 100 per cent fit and, thus, the midfielder missed out on facing his former employers.
On Monday, club insider Paul O Keefe claimed Tottenham are trying to understand the extent of James Maddison’s knock that forced him to miss the defeat to the Foxes. He has dropped a fresh update on the England international’s injury, stating the full extent of the issue.
-> Tottenham star to undergo further tests; injury extent to be determined

As per O Keefe on X, Maddison has been ruled out of action for two to three weeks with a calf injury. Ange Postecoglou was confident the 28-year-old will be fit to face Brentford at the weekend; however, scans have revealed that he has a calf problem and will be out of action for a few weeks.
This would see the English playmaker miss around four matches with three crucial cup matches due to be played during this period. Tottenham host Swedish side IF Elfsborg on Thursday in their final Europa League group-stage fixture and will likely require a win to ensure they finish in the top eight on the table. That game will be followed with a trip across the capital to face Brentford, who have been strong at home this season.
The next week should see Big Ange’s side prepare for the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Liverpool at Anfield, having taken a slender 1-0 advantage in the first leg thanks to a late Lucas Bergvall strike. After that, the Lilywhites take on Aston Villa in the FA Cup fourth round.

-> “3 weeks”- Clock ticking down on injured Tottenham star’s return to training
Maddison, who scored and stood up with a solid performance in Tottenham’s 3-2 away win over Hoffenheim in the Europa League last week, will be sorely missed in the upcoming important fixtures.
Now him being added to the club’s persistent injury woes means the Hotspur Way chiefs simply cannot afford to waste further time in the January transfer window and make moves to bring in fresh faces. Spurs are among several clubs interested in signing Rosenborg talent Sverre Nypan. The Lilywhites have been looking to add more bite and muscle to their midfield ranks, and the impressive Norwegian playmaker could be the player who arrives late in the transfer window.
