Tottenham Hotspur have been active in the market looking for opportunities to bolster their squad with a new attacking-minded midfielder, and the North Londoners have been presented with an opportunity to bring Lyon’s highly rated midfielder cum wide forward Rayan Cherki in a move worth £19 million, per Fabrizio Romano, a fee that could be considered as a bargain given his highly regarded quality.
The 21-year-old Frenchman could not only bring in much-needed tactical in-game options with his versatility and dynamism, but he also has the capability to change the Lilywhites season on its head, especially under Ange Postecoglou’s all-out attacking playing style.
Cherki & possibilities of an injury problem

And given the possibilities of his move to White Hart Lane, Dr. Rajpal Brar, a specialist in physical therapy and sports science, insists that while Cherki has not had any injury concern highlighted, the fact that he is young and will come into the physical side of the game means he would require a proper adaptation plan to ensure that his body can understand the physical demands of English football, given how he likes to carry and glide with the ball, two things that have high attributes of foul in today’s game.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Dr. Brar said:
“As Cherki is a 21-year-old moving to the Premier League for the first time, if he does join Spurs, the injury risk initially will be higher. To avoid that, they will need to have a detailed and methodical plan to get him up to speed and build up his minutes as he adapts to the rigours of the Premier League.
“He has been injury free this season so that’s always a positive.”
Cherki will add depth to multiple positions in the roster; he can play on both the wings, and you can also throw him in an orthodox No. 10 role or even in central midfield, which makes him an ideal option given how Ange Postecoglou is lacking depth in his roster, and a player who can operate in multiple roles is exactly what he needs right now.
