Tottenham eyeing Breel Embolo ahead of January transfer deadline day.

Tottenham are having a tough season yet as 12 of their important players are out due to injuries and to make things worse, the team is sitting in 15th place, only three points clear of the relegation zone. With only the injury-prone Richarlison available as a forward and Solanke out for six weeks, Spurs desperately need to bring in a backup striker. As the January transfer window approaches its end, The Lilywhites are running out of time to make the crucial investment.

Tottenham’s plans were destroyed when Randal Kolo Muani, decided to join Juventus earlier this month, crashing all Tottenham’s plans who were looking forward to the Frenchman. With the transfer window about to close on Monday, The North London club are now looking at alternatives. Reports from France indicate that the north London club has shifted their focus to Breel Embolo of AS Monaco, a player who has demonstrated his ability to perform in key moments on the big stage.

Tottenham have set their sights on the Switzerland International

Embolo has consistently left his mark for Switzerland in major tournaments, participating in five international competitions, including the Euros and the World Cup. Primarily recognised for his national team endeavours, he has also become a dependable player for Monaco.

With 70 appearances for the club and 29 goals to his name, Embolo has caught the eye of Tottenham as the transfer window approaches its end. However, his recent injury history might raise concerns for Spurs.

Embolo missed 36 games for Monaco last season after tearing his ACL, and Tottenham, struggling with injuries already, may not want to risk adding another injury-prone player. Despite that setback, Embolo hasn’t lost his pace; he recorded a top speed of 33 km/h during last summer’s European Championships, surpassing Kyle Walker’s current top speed this season, according to The Speeds Database.

With Mickey van de Ven now sidelined through injury, Tottenham could certainly benefit from some added pace in their attack. A player like Embolo could be just what they need to reignite their season and help turn things around before the campaign slips further.
