Mathys Tel

Tottenham Hotspur have been looking to bring in Bayern Munich sensation Mathys Tel at White Hart Lane before the conclusion of the ongoing winter transfer window as the Lilywhites look to compound on their offensive options before the conclusion of the January transfer window.

The Lilywhites have been dealing with a lot of injury problems at Hotspur away this season, and that has forced Ange Postecoglou to name his side with makeshift changes for around the campaign, and now the North Londoners want to take advantage of the ongoing winter transfer window to land someone that can have a long-lasting impact on not only this season but also seasons to come. Andy, this is where French teenage sensation Mathys Tel comes into the picture…

Ange Postecoglou remains tight-lipped after being asked about Mathys Tel
Ange Postecoglou can have Mathys Tel in his roster by end of ongoing window.

Tel has been struggling for game time with the German giants, and he is looking to make a move to a place where he can not only feature regularly but also become an integral figure, and this is where a move to White Hart Lane comes into the picture.

Former Lilywhites goalkeeper Paul Robinson has backed Tottenham signing the 19-year-old; however, he also has questioned if Daniel Levy should be going all in on moving for the youngster, given how Tottenham are struggling in multiple positions.

Speaking on the latest episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Robinson said:

“He’s a player that’s, he’s an exciting player. But again, you question about the defensive cover, don’t you? I mean, every single day or every week we look at Tottenham and the link to attacking players.

“You know, he’s another one, 60 league games and he scored 12 goals, it’s not going to be a cheap deal for Spurs to do. For me, yeah would I like to see him come into the squad, do I think he’s a good player? Yeah absolutely.

“Do I think he’s a necessity at the moment? No, he’s not, there’s other areas of the squad that need looking at. If he comes in alongside others then yeah it’s a good window.

“You get cover in two or three different areas along with Tel then yeah absolutely he’s a good player but listen, I don’t know how the recruitment’s been done in Tottenham at the moment.

“That type of player isn’t going to give the immediate answers to his problems.”

For Tottenham, in their pursuit of Tel, they are not alone, with clubs like Man United and Arsenal interested in his signature, and given that Tel has a big decision to make, it remains to be seen where he lands.
