“Tottenham used to win…” – Arsenal icon calls out Spurs chairman amid current crisis at N17

Harry Redknapp thinks Ange Postecoglou is under pressure at Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham Hotspur have been struggling in the Premier League this season as the Lilywhites cope with injury problems, which has exposed the depth (or the lack of depth in a sense) in Ange Postecoglou’s roster, with the Australian head coach making the best of trying to make do with the resources available at his disposal.

Injury hit crisis

The former Celtic manager has been forced to deploy makeshift solutions at multiple positions along the ongoing campaign, and that has had a domino effect on how his system has failed to perform as expected.

At the moment, Tottenham lost against Leicester City last weekend, and the loss against the Foxes was the Lilywhites 13th of the ongoing Premier League campaign, and they are in 15th position in the English top tier, which is just above the relegation zone, and they could slip to 16th if David Moyes’ Everton wins their game in hand.

Wright calls out Daniel Levy, and rightly so…

Ian Wright is shocked to learn that Eric Dier moved to a bigger club than Tottenham.
Ian Wright speaks on Levy and his time at Tottenham.

And in the midst of a crisis at N17, Arsenal icon Ian Wright has called out club chairman Daniel Levy, insisting that the American businessman should depart White Hart Lane and how he is holding back progress at N17 (something a whole lot of supporters would agree with).

Speaking on the Stick to Football podcast, former Crystal Palace striker Wright said:

“They should have been winning things because of the owner—they haven’t won anything with him, have they? With Levy at the helm. Tottenham used to win trophies, used to win FA Cups; they used to win stuff. It’s him.

“He’s the one; they’ve got to get him out and get an owner in who wants to win something with these fans. The stadium’s always full.”

You could say that Tottenham have been dealt with difficult cards this season, but the ongoing winter transfer window has not been managed well, with the club not signing any outfield player yet, and despite multiple claims of adding depth, Levy didn’t do it in the previous summer window.
