Sergio Reguilon has entered the final six months of his contract at Tottenham
There are only a couple of days left in the winter transfer window, as Tottenham Hotspur look to make a late scramble for signings.
Spurs have managed to make just one January acquisition in the form of goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky from Slavia Prague. They remain in the market for a new forward in the wake of injuries to Dominic Solanke and Brennan Johnson. Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel emerged as a concrete target, but the French starlet has snubbed the opportunity to move to White Hart Lane.
Apart from signing fresh faces, the final days of the transfer window also offers escape routes for some players who need moves away from their respective clubs to reignite their careers.
-> José Mourinho wants Sergio Reguilón in January
Sergio Reguilon was understood to have no future at Tottenham at the start of the season. The left-back, who had successful loan spells with Manchester United and Brentford last term, was frozen out of the first-team squad by Ange Postecoglou until the start of December. Persistent injury problems in defence forced Ange Postecoglou to reintegrate him into the squad, and since then, the Spaniard has managed to offer some help to Spurs.
Into the final six months of his contract at N17 (Transfermarkt), Sergio Reguilon has attracted interest from Premier League clubs, La Liga, Turkish Super Lig and the cash-rich Saudi Pro League. Now, there is a new entrant in the mix vying for his signature.
According to club insider Paul O Keefe, Greek side AEK Athens and two unnamed Spanish clubs have shown an interest in signing Reguilon. He adds on his X account that the defender is in no rush to make a decision and could finish the season before leaving Tottenham on a free transfer.

At the start of the January transfer window, Reguilon would have been nailed on to exit Tottenham. However, as the window has progressed and injuries have piled up, the chances of the six-cap Spanish international leaving have become slimmer. Since being reintegrated into the squad, the 28-year-old has made five appearances across all competitions.

Destiny Udogie is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury, which leaves Reguilon as the only left-back in the squad with Ben Davies now counted as a central defender by Big Ange. For a few quid, it would make no sense for Tottenham to sell the Madrid-born talent in the midst of the injury crisis.
Considering all the factors, Spurs must keep the Spaniard in their squad and allow him to run down his contract.
