Tottenham exploring loan move for Chelsea defender Axel Disasi
Tottenham Hotspur’s poor form in the Premier League needs no introduction as they sit 15th in the league standings. And while Ange Postecoglou has obviously been under pressure, it would be unfair to entirely blame the Australian for the team’s performances as he has had to deal with a fair share of injury problems ever since the campaign got underway in August last year.
The latest player to enter the treatment room is Radu Dragusin. The Romanian centre-half sustained a knee injury and was forced off the pitch in Spurs 3-0 win over IF Elfsborg in the Europa League on Thursday evening.
Dragusin has been subsequently ruled out from the upcoming Premier League game against Brentford. If his injury turns out to be a serious one, it will be a massive blow for Ange Postecoglou’s side, particularly with Cristian Romero still on the comeback trail from injury and Micky van de Ven making his first appearance on Thursday after almost two months on the sidelines.

As a result, the Lilywhites are now prioritising the addition of a new central defender before next week’s transfer deadline. According to an exclusive report from CaughtOffside, Tottenham are plotting a shock loan move for Chelsea defender Axel Disasi.
Axel Disasi has failed to live up to the lofty expectations at Stamford Bridge since arriving from AS Monaco in January 2023. After blowing hot and cold last season, he has found first-team opportunities limited at Chelsea this term under new boss Enzo Maresca, starting just three Premier League games thus far.
As a result, Chelsea are open to allowing the France international to leave on loan for the rest of the season. Disasi has also attracted interest from Aston Villa, who like Spurs are also in the midst of a defensive crisis.

Chelsea are likely to not entertain the idea of strengthening their rivals, but the reason why they would want Disasi to leave on loan is he is deemed surplus to requirements for Maresca. Plus, they’d be inclined to hear what Spurs may have to say, and the latter’s desperation may result in a loan fee good enough to tempt the Blues.
While Disasi has failed to cement his place in Chelsea’s starting XI, he’d be a decent squad option for Tottenham. A local move would mean the Frenchman need less time to adapt to his new surroundings as well.

Given the fresh injury blow to Dragusin and lack of time left in the winter window to bring in a quality centre-half to replace him in the squad, Spurs may well have to settle with Disasi on loan if it means bringing in a body at the back for the rest of the season.
