Spurs exploring shock loan move for Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho

Tottenham have made a shock loan enquiry for Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho

Tottenham Hotspur are in the midst of a forgettable season—both on and off the pitch. They are 15th in the Premier League table right now and are yet to sign a single outfield player after acquiring the services of goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky from Slavia Prague at the start of January.

France international Randal Kolo Muani rejected Spurs earlier in the transfer window, leaving Paris Saint-Germain on loan for Juventus. This prompted the club to look elsewhere, with Ange Postecoglou desperate for attacking reinforcements following the latest injuries to Dominic Solanke and Brennan Johnson.

Over the last few days, the Lilywhites have been attempting to close out a deal for Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel. The Tottenham hierarchy were quick to act after hearing that the French attacker is on the market, striking a £50m verbal agreement with Bayern Munich for the player’s transfer on Thursday.

However, in another setback, Mathys Tel snubbed a move to Tottenham on Friday. Now, according to a report from the Daily Mail, Spurs have now turned their attention towards Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho. They have made a shock enquiry for the Red Devils starlet before next week’s transfer deadline.

Alejandro Garnacho was dropped by head coach Ruben Amorim for December’s Manchester derby at the Etihad Stadium and has been made available by INEOS in order to ease Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) constraints. Chelsea and Napoli have shown an interest in signing the Argentinean international, who has been valued at around £60million.

There has been constant speculation surrounding the youngster’s future at Old Trafford, despite Ruben Amorim recently praising him earlier this week. Now, Tottenham have seemingly entered the race for the winger, who has scored three goals and assisted once in 22 Premier League games so far this season.

The aforementioned report adds the North Londoners’ enquiry was about a loan move, having held a long-standing interest in Garnacho. Although, it is unclear whether the Man United starlet would consider a move to Ange Postecoglou’s side at this stage of the window.

Given Man United appear open to selling Garnacho in order to balance their books and ease their PSR burden, Spurs enquiring about a loan move does not make sense under any circumstances. If we are truly interested in the South American talent, Daniel Levy has to pay a premium—reportedly around £60million.

For that price, Garnacho could be a smashing, long-term investment at White Hart Lane.
