Tottenham offered chance to sign Bundesliga striker

Tottenham have been offered an opportunity to sign Bayer Leverkusen star Victor Boniface

Tottenham Hotspur have been in dire need of recruits in the January transfer market, having only signed goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky. However, it’s their defensive and attacking ranks in which the Lilywhites have struggled mostly due to injuries, and Daniel Levy could help Ange Postecoglou out in that regard.

As far as their attacking unit is concerned, Ange Postecoglou is presently bereft of options owing to injuries to Dominic Solanke, Brennan Johnson, Wilson Odobert and Timo Werner. This has led Spurs to scour the market for offensive reinforcements, with Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel emerging as a target of late.

Mathys Tel is highly regarded at Bayern Munich but he has struggled for minutes under Vincent Kompany this season, and is free to leave the club before next week’s transfer deadline. Sensing a deal could be done, Tottenham struck a £50m verbal agreement with Bayern Munich for the Frenchman’s transfer on Thursday.

However, Tel provided the Lilywhites a significant blow by snubbing a move to White Hart Lane on Friday. Now, according to an exclusive report from TBR Football, Tottenham have been offered the opportunity to sign Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface before the transfer deadline on Monday

The Nigerian striker is being offered around the Premier League after his move to Saudi Arabia broke down, as Al-Nassr opted for Aston Villa marksman Jhon Duran, despite agreeing a deal of over £50million for the centre-forward.

The 24-year-old joined Bayer Leverkusen from Union Saint-Gilloise in the summer of 2023 and was a smash hit in his debut season, scoring 21 goals and supplying 10 assists further in 34 games across all competitions whilst lifting three trophies.

However, Victor Boniface has endured a difficult second season at Bay Arena, and has just returned from a two-month injury absence. Before his injury, he had netted six goals in 10 Bundesliga games. This shows the striker’s prowess in front of goal when fully fit, exactly someone Tottenham could do with in the injury absence of Solanke.

Boniface, who has been likened to Bundesliga legend Robert Lewandowski, would be a solid signing for Spurs. The Nigerian international is technically sound, aerially strong, can link up play well and score all kinds of goals. He is the type of all-round centre-forward Big Ange’s side need right now to lead their attack.

While the ex-Union SG star is light years away from hitting his peak, the African has the qualities to make an immediate impact at White Hart Lane and lift their spirits. It will be interesting to see whether Big Ange thinks Boniface can be the main man in the attack in his system.
