Manchester United are pushing Bayern Munich for Tottenham target Mathys Tel
Tottenham Hotspur may be about to face a huge roadblock in their attempts to land Mathys Tel as a big update has emerged regarding Manchester United’s pursuit of the Bayern Munich forward.
Spurs have been looking to bring in a new forward given their recent injury problems in that position. Club-record signing Dominic Solanke has been ruled out until mid-March due to a knee injury, while Brennan Johnson will also spend a few weeks on the sidelines.
After missing out on Randal Kolo Muani earlier this month, the North Londoners have set their sights on signing Mathys Tel. And they have already reached a verbal agreement with Bayern Munich over a £50 million transfer for the teenager. Spurs have shown the firmest interest in the player and are the only club to have agreed a fee with the German club, but Tel is seemingly waiting to see if other clubs make an offer before deciding on his future.

Now, Tottenham’s chances of signing Tel might have just been handed a blow as it has now emerged that one of their Premier League rivals have contacted Bayern to express their interest.
According to reliable Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, Manchester United have expressed their desire to sign Tel on loan. The Red Devils are hoping to buy some time as they need to offload one of Marcus Rashford or Alejandro Garnacho, or both, before signing the Frenchman.
There is a feeling at both Man United and Bayern that the young forward is leaning towards a loan move, Plettenberg added on his X account. This is why he hasn’t committed to Tottenham yet. Spurs pushing for a decision as Tel is their prime target before next week’s transfer deadline.

Tel is yet to give his decision is bad news for Tottenham, who have done everything right in their pursuit of the Bayern starlet. The one thing that might give the Lilywhites the edge over Man United is that the Sarcelles-born talent is much more likely to get regular game time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. It is tough to see how Man United could offer the forward a guarantee that he will be a starter, given the options Ruben Amorim has at his disposal.
