Tottenham open talks with Brentford to sign Yoane Wissa

Ange Postecoglou has been vying for a move for a new striker in the ongoing winter transfer window as the Australian head coach looks to bring in a fresh face up front given the recent injury to marquee summer arrival Dominic Solanke, and Daniel Levy has been pursuing a move for Brentford striker Yoane Wissa.

And according to a recent report by Foot Mercato, the Lilywhites have already contacted the Bees over a possible transfer as the North Londoners look to get alternatives in after the failed Germany trip of Daniel Levy to convince Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel to join the club.

Wenham backs transfer

Now looking at Yoane Wissa, who is not only physical but also mobile and could play multiple roles in the front line (like he does at Brentford) and John Wenham, owner of the reputed podcast Lilywhites Rose, suggests that the French-born Congo international would be perfect at White Hart Lane.

Jamie O'Hara called for an immediate sack of the Australian manager following the North Londoners' defeat against Leicester.
Postecoglou would love Wissa in his current squad, wouldn’t he?

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, the podcast host said:

“I really like Wissa. He’s a good age, he’s experienced, and he seems to know where the back of the net is in the Premier League. In addition, he’s one of those players that if we were to sign him, could slot right in.

“There wouldn’t be a settling-in period, none of that nonsense, he would just join the club and hit the ground running straight away. Therefore, I think he is a good player and someone who would seriously improve us in our current situation. As a result, I’d be more than happy for Tottenham to sign him.”

However, that being said, despite links with a move to N17, Thomas Frank’s side is unwilling to part ways with the 28-year-old, according to Ekrem Konur.

If no Wissa, what now?

Postecoglou & Tottenham got a glimpse of everything Wissa is about in the London derby against Brentford earlier today, where he was consistently being a trouble to a depleted Spurs defence all game.

It is to be seen if Levy and his team can persuade Brentford into a deal, and if not, what alternatives does John Lange bring up in these final days of the winter window?
